WHY THIS BOOK EXISTS

Some stories survive because hearts still recognize themselves inside them.

A Love Older Than Fear was never written to create division, provoke outrage, or dismantle faith. This project began through grief, questions, compassion, and the growing realization that many wounded believers have spent years searching for honesty inside conversations shaped more by fear than tenderness.

About the Book

A Love Older Than Fear explores the biblical story of David and Jonathan through the language of covenant, loyalty, grief, tenderness, and devotion. It invites readers to look closely at the words Scripture preserves and to consider how fear, tradition, and interpretation can shape the way a story is understood.

Written for readers who value Scripture and are willing to ask thoughtful questions, this work makes room for careful study, honest reflection, and compassion for people whose experiences of faith have been shaped by silence or rejection.

This is an invitation to read with care, examine the text honestly, and make room for conversations where truth and human dignity are treated seriously.

Why David and Jonathan Still Matter

For generations, readers quietly returned to the story of David and Jonathan because something within their covenant continued feeling emotionally alive. Scripture preserved loyalty, vulnerability, grief, devotion, and love with extraordinary tenderness, yet many faith communities avoided engaging deeply with the emotional weight of those passages.

This book exists because many people sensed there was more within the text than they had been permitted to explore openly. Questions remained. Emotions remained. The longing to understand remained.

“Fear taught many believers to hide. Love invited them to breathe again.”

Why This Became Personal

This project was never written from a place of superiority or scholarly arrogance. The heart behind these pages grew through conversations with wounded people, rejected people, silenced people, and believers who genuinely loved God while feeling afraid of honesty within religious spaces.

Many LGBTQIA+ believers learned how to survive church environments while quietly carrying exhaustion, shame, confusion, and isolation beneath the surface. Many were taught that compassion belonged only to certain people while others deserved suspicion first.

The deeper this research journey became, the more impossible those wounds became to ignore compassionately.

What This Book Hopes To Heal

This book does not ask readers to abandon Scripture. This project asks readers to slow down long enough to examine whether fear shaped certain interpretations more deeply than many realized historically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Healing begins when people feel safe enough to speak honestly again. Restoration becomes possible when compassion remains stronger than fear. Honest conversations become possible when human dignity matters more than protecting systems that wounded people silently beneath their weight.

A Love Older Than Fear ultimately exists for every reader who has ever wondered whether faith and honesty could survive together peacefully.
