The Journey Begins

Prologue

Dallas never imagined that life could change in a single moment. He had been a man torn between two worlds. One offered the promise of peace and wholeness, the voice of Jesus calling him out of darkness. The other offered temporary escapes that only deepened the ache inside him. For years he walked a thin line between hope and destruction, longing for freedom while running back to the very chains that held him captive.

He knew Scripture and believed in the power of God. Yet when cravings came and loneliness pressed against his mind, he felt drawn toward the poison that numbed him. He lived the words he had hoped no one would ever see. A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. It was not just a verse. It was the mirror he avoided.

But Jesus never let go of him. Through every relapse, every night spent trembling, every moment he thought he would not survive, the Lord watched over him with a love far greater than his failures. In the middle of his darkest valley, Dallas discovered something he had never understood before. Deliverance is not found in the strength of a man. It is found in surrender to the God whose name is Jesus.

This book begins on the day Dallas realized that the life he had been trying to manage alone must be placed entirely in the hands of the One who formed him. His journey is not the story of a perfect man. It is the story of a pursued man, a rescued man, a transformed man. It is the story of a man who learned that stability is not created within the human heart. Stability is created by Jesus living inside the heart that invites Him in.
