Chapter One

The Silence Before the Voice

The morning air in Nazareth was crisp, carrying the scent of dew on clay rooftops and the faint aroma of bread baking in the ovens. Mary stirred from her sleep, the quiet of the town wrapping around her like a familiar blanket.

Hannah, her mother, was already preparing breakfast, humming a psalm taught through childhood memories and rhythms of faith. Nazareth stirred quietly around them while deeper silence rested over Israel itself.

Prophets had come and gone. Kings had risen and fallen. Roman authority occupied the land. Generations prayed and waited while heaven seemed silent.

Sometimes heaven grows quiet before eternity begins to speak.

Mary prayed beside the window, asking not for fame or position but for faithfulness. Small moments filled ordinary days, though a quiet expectation stirred beneath every breath.

Unknown to Mary, history was preparing to bend toward her life. Silence would not remain forever. A voice was coming.
