The road to Bethlehem stretched farther than Mary expected. Dust rose beneath each step while travelers crowded the pathways. Joseph walked beside her with steady concern, knowing prophecy and promise were moving toward fulfillment.
The town overflowed with people. Door after door closed before them. Weariness settled over the evening while hope still pressed forward.
A stable finally became shelter. Hay covered the ground. Animals rested nearby. Nothing about the place suggested majesty, though heaven had chosen differently.
Then the moment arrived. Jesus entered the world. The Creator breathed the air of creation. The One who formed stars opened human eyes beneath the dim light of a humble stable.
Mary held Him close and felt eternity resting within her arms. Angels filled nearby fields with praise while shepherds hurried through the night to witness heaven's announcement.
Silence gave way to worship. Promise gave way to fulfillment. The overshadowing had become incarnation.
