CHAPTER FIVE

The Pressing of Darkness

Nightly meetings became part of life for Elias, Matthias, and Abram. Abandoned buildings. Empty train stations. Forgotten corners of the city. Each gathering carried increasing weight.

Elias felt pressure deep within his chest. Matthias fought thoughts that attempted to scatter his focus. Abram sensed movement just beyond the edge of sight.

Resistance had become impossible to ignore. Something unseen pushed back.

Rain covered the streets one evening while wind moved through empty intersections. Streetlights flickered. Silence settled over the city. The pressure arrived stronger than before.

Elias struggled for breath. Matthias felt fear grip his mind. Abram tightened his hands around his flashlight.

None spoke immediately. Each recognized the same reality. Darkness had noticed them.

"This feels different." Elias finally broke the silence.

Matthias looked toward distant city lights. "The kingdom suffers violence."

Abram nodded. "This resistance proves something greater has started."

The three men joined hands beneath falling rain. Together they spoke one name. Jesus.

Pressure shattered instantly. Warmth replaced heaviness. Strength moved through them. Peace filled the street.

Darkness retreated. Faith had stood firm.
