Chapter 10

Because Jesus Saw Everything

As I look back across the landscape of those years, I no longer see only the difficult moments that once occupied so much of my attention. Time has a remarkable way of changing perspective. Certain memories remain vivid, while others soften with distance. Questions that once seemed urgent no longer carry the same weight they once held, and answers sometimes arrive through experiences rather than explanations. Looking back now, I recognize that the story contained within these pages is larger than any single event, conversation, disappointment, or season of uncertainty. Through every chapter of the journey, one truth remained constant, and that truth has become clearer with every passing year.

Jesus saw everything.

The title of this book emerged long after many of the experiences described within these pages had already taken place. During much of that season, I believed the story centered primarily upon understanding relationships, navigating disappointment, and learning how to endure circumstances that often felt confusing and unpredictable. Those elements certainly belong to the story, yet they do not represent its deepest meaning. Looking back now, I understand that the story was never ultimately about the circumstances themselves. The story was always about the faithfulness of Jesus within those circumstances.

While I searched for answers, Jesus remained present.

While I wrestled with uncertainty, Jesus remained present.

While I attempted to make sense of situations that often felt beyond my understanding, Jesus remained present.

His faithfulness never depended upon my ability to see the entire picture. His presence never depended upon my ability to understand where the journey was leading. During seasons when confusion seemed greater than clarity, He continued guiding me with patience that far exceeded my own. During moments when disappointment threatened to overshadow hope, He continued reminding me that His purposes were larger than anything I could see in the moment.

Many of my prayers during those years revolved around questions. I wanted clarity regarding circumstances that seemed increasingly difficult to understand. I wanted wisdom for decisions that felt heavy. I wanted peace in situations that often appeared unstable. Looking back now, I realize that Jesus answered those prayers, though His answers did not always arrive in the form I expected. Rather than providing immediate explanations, He often provided His presence. Rather than removing every uncertainty, He taught me how to trust Him within uncertainty. Rather than revealing every answer at once, He guided me one step at a time.

That guidance changed me more than immediate answers ever could have.

The person who entered those experiences and the person writing these words today are not the same. Growth rarely occurs without challenge, and wisdom rarely develops without experience. Through every difficult season, Jesus was teaching me lessons that would shape the way I understood relationships, responsibility, grace, truth, and faith itself. Some of those lessons arrived through prayer. Others arrived through reflection. Many emerged slowly through the passage of time as I began seeing events from a perspective that had been impossible while I was living through them.

One of the greatest lessons involved understanding the relationship between love and truth. For years, I feared that acknowledging difficult realities might somehow diminish compassion. Jesus patiently taught me that genuine love does not require the denial of truth. In fact, love becomes healthier when it is grounded in reality rather than sustained by assumptions, explanations, or hopes that ignore what is actually taking place. That lesson changed the way I viewed not only relationships but also my own responsibility within them.

Another lesson involved surrender. For much of my life, I believed that carrying more demonstrated greater love. I believed that enduring more, worrying more, understanding more, and investing more of myself into difficult situations reflected faithfulness. Jesus gradually revealed that faithfulness is not measured by how much weight a person can carry. Faithfulness is measured by trust. Trust allows us to place burdens into His hands rather than attempting to carry them ourselves. Trust acknowledges the limits of human strength while relying upon the limitless strength of God.

Looking back now, I understand that many of the burdens I carried were never mine to carry alone. Some belonged to the future. Some belonged to other people. Some belonged entirely to Jesus. Learning that distinction did not happen overnight, yet it transformed the way I viewed both love and responsibility. The more clearly I understood what belonged to Him, the more freedom I experienced within my own heart.

Perhaps the most beautiful realization to emerge from this journey is the understanding that Jesus never once looked away. He saw every prayer offered in private. He saw every tear that never reached another person’s attention. He saw every moment of confusion, every unanswered question, every disappointment, and every burden that seemed too heavy to explain. Nothing escaped His notice. Nothing fell beyond His care. Nothing occurred outside the reach of His presence.

That truth carries tremendous comfort because it reminds me that the most important reality of my story was never what happened to me. The most important reality was who walked beside me through it. Circumstances changed repeatedly. Seasons came and went. Relationships experienced moments of joy as well as moments of difficulty. My understanding evolved over time. Through every change, Jesus remained exactly who He has always been.

His faithfulness remained constant.

His love remained constant.

His presence remained constant.

Today, when I reflect upon the title of this book, I see far more than a description of burdens carried through a difficult season. I see a testimony. I see the story of a Savior who remained faithful when I struggled to understand what was happening around me. I see the story of a Savior who patiently guided me toward truth without abandoning me in the process. I see the story of a Savior who carried me through moments that often felt heavier than I could bear on my own.

What Love Was Carrying is ultimately a story about grace, growth, discernment, healing, and the faithfulness of Jesus. The burdens mattered. The lessons mattered. The experiences mattered. Yet none of those things represent the heart of the story.

Jesus is the heart of the story.

He was present in every chapter.

He was present in every season.

He was present in every moment.

And through it all, He saw everything.

Because Jesus saw everything.
