Brad tossed and turned that night, sleep eluding him despite the comfort of Gabe’s soft breathing nearby. His mind was restless, buzzing with unanswered questions about work, life, and the future. He finally rose and stepped onto the balcony, the city stretched out before him, lights flickering like distant stars reflected in glass.
The air was crisp and carried the faint scent of rain from earlier in the evening. Brad leaned against the railing, staring at the streets below, letting the hum of the city settle around him. It was in that stillness that a vision came; not a dream, but something deeper, almost like a memory from the Spirit itself.
He saw a massive stadium, vast and dark, filled with people who could not be clearly seen. He stood at the center of the stage, unsure of why he was there. Yet as he began to speak, words flowed through him effortlessly, carrying hope, encouragement, and life into the unseen crowd. The message was not for recognition or applause. It was for those who had been overlooked, forgotten, or abandoned.
Brad felt a weight pressing on his chest and then a burning clarity: Your voice is for the unreachable.
He staggered back, heart racing. The vision faded, leaving only the echo of that phrase in his mind. Tears pricked his eyes as he realized God was calling him to step beyond his comfort zone. He had long hidden in routines and small successes, but now he understood that faith required action, courage, and vulnerability.
The next morning, he made himself a cup of coffee and opened his journal. Pen in hand, he tried to capture the vividness of the vision, describing the stadium, the unseen crowd, and the powerful sensation of speaking life into darkness.
Later, Gabe bounded into the kitchen, messy hair, still in pajamas. “Daddy! Are you awake? I had a dream about us flying today. Do you want to hear it?”
Brad smiled, feeling a warmth in his chest. “Of course, buddy. Tell me.”
Gabe described the dream in wide-eyed excitement, unaware of the spiritual weight of Brad’s own vision. Yet as he spoke, Brad saw a connection. Children often perceived things with a clarity adults missed. Gabe’s innocence and trust mirrored the faith Brad would need to act on his own calling.
Throughout the day, Brad found himself reflecting constantly on the vision. Even mundane tasks; making breakfast, doing laundry, walking Gabe to the park; carried a new weight. Everything seemed like a preparation, a small step toward the greater purpose God had placed before him.
That evening, Brad shared a simplified version of his vision with Gabe. “God showed me something tonight, Gabe. He reminded me that sometimes we have to speak to people who feel invisible or forgotten. We may not see them, but our words can reach them.”
Gabe’s eyes widened. “Like when we help someone even if they don’t know it?”
“Yes, exactly, buddy. Even small actions and words can make a big difference. That’s how God works through us.”
Brad ended the day kneeling beside Gabe’s bed, praying softly, “Jesus, show me the ways I can reach others. Give me courage to speak about life where it is needed, even when I feel small or afraid. Teach me to follow Your Spirit in everything I do.”
As he rose from prayer, Brad felt an undeniable stirring in his heart. The Holy Ghost was at work, not just attracting him with quiet whispers, but equipping him for action. He understood now that faith required courage, trust, and obedience. And above all, he knew that his son Gabe would be walking alongside him, learning to see and respond to God’s guidance in their daily lives.
