Learning the freedom found within humility, surrender, and making room for Jesus to become greater.
Human nature naturally gravitates toward self preservation.
People protect reputations. People defend opinions. People often desire recognition, validation, and control because those things create temporary feelings of security. Much of the world encourages constant self promotion, constant comparison, and constant striving for attention.
Jesus invites hearts toward another way.
Those words from John the Baptist sound simple while carrying deep surrender. Human ambition often resists decrease because decrease feels uncomfortable to pride. Yet the kingdom repeatedly reveals a beautiful truth: less self often creates more room for Jesus.
Humility does not mean believing a life carries no value. Humility means understanding where true value comes from. Identity rooted within Jesus no longer depends upon applause, comparison, or constant validation from people.
Pride exhausts hearts. Humility frees hearts.
Pride constantly searches for recognition. Humility remains content being known by God. Pride fears becoming overlooked. Humility trusts heaven’s eyes more than human attention.
Many burdens disappear when lives stop revolving around protecting personal image.
Comparison loses power there. Competition loses power there. Performance loses power there.
Peace begins growing where striving once lived.
Jesus consistently modeled humility. The King of glory washed feet. The Creator served people. Heaven clothed itself in flesh and walked among ordinary humanity with gentleness and compassion.
True greatness within the kingdom has never depended upon becoming larger than others.
True greatness kneels. True greatness serves. True greatness loves without needing applause.
The world often says: Promote yourself. Protect your image. Build your platform.
Jesus quietly says: Follow Me.
Following Jesus requires surrender because self centered living cannot fully coexist with complete obedience. Certain desires must decrease. Pride must loosen its grip. Ego must stop demanding attention.
Those moments can feel painful because surrender often stretches areas hearts once tried to protect. Yet freedom waits on the other side of surrender.
A willing vessel learns that life becomes lighter when everything no longer revolves around self.
More of Jesus. Less striving. More peace. Less pressure. More listening. Less noise.
Many people spend years trying to become enough through effort. Jesus already invites weary hearts into grace.
The prayer slowly becomes:
Jesus, remove anything within me that keeps me from hearing You clearly.
Small enough to hear Him means allowing pride to decrease so the voice of Jesus becomes greater within every part of life.
