Family Connection
Invite families to share something meaningful about their home life, such as a favorite routine, song, story, food, or way they spend time together. Families may share only what feels comfortable.
Materials
Family photos when available, books, natural materials, baskets, sorting objects, dramatic play props, paper, washable art materials, measuring tools, and safe food ingredients when permitted.
Teacher Observation
Notice children's communication, relationships, participation in group experiences, classification and counting skills, pretend play, and ability to express preferences or appreciation.
Adaptation
Honor family differences and avoid assuming that all children celebrate the same holidays or traditions. Provide visual supports, alternative materials, multiple communication methods, and meaningful choices.
