Family Connection
Invite families to take a short walk together and notice one sign of fall. Encourage children to describe what they see, hear, smell, or feel and share the observation with the class.
Materials
Leaves, natural objects, pumpkins or apples, baskets, sorting containers, washable art materials, dramatic play props, books, puppets, rhythm instruments, and sensory materials appropriate for the children.
Teacher Observation
Notice children's descriptive language, curiosity, classification skills, cooperative play, storytelling, problem solving, and ability to communicate ideas.
Adaptation
Offer visual supports, sensory alternatives, adaptive tools, multiple communication methods, and quieter participation options. Avoid requiring children to participate in any seasonal activity they find uncomfortable.
