An Addict of Jesus

Psalm 42:1

Scripture:

“As the deer pants and longs for the water brooks, so I long for You, O God.” Psalm 42:1

Devotion:

The word “addict” often carries a heavy meaning. Many associate it with struggle, bondage, and loss. Yet the deeper truth behind that word points to devotion, to what the heart continually reaches for.

A soul created for God will always hunger for Him. That hunger does not disappear. It searches. It reaches. It longs to be filled.

There is a place where that hunger finds its true satisfaction. That place is in Jesus.

A life centered in Him begins to reflect a different kind of craving. Thoughts turn toward Him. Desires align with Him. The heart begins to seek His presence above everything else.

This is not bondage. This is freedom. This is devotion shaped by love and sustained by grace.

Being fully given to Jesus means surrendering every part of life. Identity becomes rooted in Him. Peace flows from Him. Fulfillment is found in Him alone.

The world offers substitutes that promise relief yet leave emptiness behind. Jesus offers Himself, and He satisfies completely.

A heart that continually returns to Him discovers what true freedom feels like.

Prayer:

Lord, create within me a deep hunger for You. Let my heart continually seek Your presence above all else. Draw me closer and teach me to find satisfaction in You alone. Shape my desires so they reflect Your heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
