Scripture
“Rather, let our lives lovingly express truth [in all things, speaking truly, dealing truly, living truly]. Enfolded in love, let us grow up in every way and in all things into Him Who is the Head, [even] Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).” Ephesians 4:15
Devotion
Confrontation can be tough, even scary. The Bible shows us that sometimes it’s needed for truth, healing, and growth. The key isn’t if we confront, but how.
Jesus often confronted, but never with pride. He spoke boldly to Pharisees, corrected His disciples, and even turned over tables in the temple. He did it all with a heart focused on truth, justice, and love. He wasn’t trying to win arguments; he was trying to win hearts.
Sometimes we avoid confrontation to “keep the peace,” but real peace doesn’t come from pretending everything’s okay. Other times, we are confronted with anger, using truth as a weapon. That’s not Jesus either.
Biblical confrontation is rooted in humility, driven by love, and aims at restoration. When we align with God’s heart, we can speak truth without pride and still carry grace in our tone.
Prayer
Lord, when confrontation is needed, give me the courage to speak. Guard my heart from pride and let my words be led by Your Spirit. May I correct in love, not out of anger. Teach me to reflect on You, even in hard conversations. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today’s Challenge
Is there someone God is prompting you to speak to, maybe to reconcile, clarify, or gently, correct? Pray before you speak. Let your words reflect truth but let your tone carry His love.
