Devotion:

Belief is the first step. Jesus says that true discipleship comes from something deeper: keeping His word.

To “keep” means to stay, stay true, or stay rooted. It’s not enough to have a one-time experience or a feeling. Jesus calls us to a daily commitment to His truth. Real disciples don’t just listen to His teachings, they live them out, even when it’s tough, unpopular, or inconvenient.

This verse reminds us that discipleship isn’t just about sitting back and listening. It’s about having a relationship with the Word of God. That means learning it, thinking about it, obeying it, and letting it shape every part of our lives.

Reflection Questions:

• Am I just a believer in Jesus, or am I really a disciple; one who keeps His word?
• Do I spend time regularly in Scripture, letting it guide my thoughts, decisions, and actions?
• When things get tough, do I hold on to His teachings or let go?

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, thank you for the gift of your Word. Help me not just to believe in you, but to follow you wholeheartedly. Give me the strength to stay in your truth every day, to live it out in every situation, and to grow deeper as your disciple. In Jesus’ name, amen.
