Scripture
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
Devotion
You’ve learned how to smile while bleeding.
You’ve learned how to blend in while breaking.
But Jesus sees through all of it.
He sees the child in you and the one who wasn’t protected, the one who was silenced, the one who still waits for someone to come back and say, “I’m sorry that happened to you.”
He doesn’t walk past the pain you’ve tucked away into adult responsibilities and smiles.
He stops.
He kneels.
He sees you.
Maybe others dismissed your tears or said, “You’re too sensitive.”
Maybe you were told to get over it, grow up, move on.
Jesus never silences the cry of your heart. No matter how long it's been echoing.
The inner child still hurting within you is not a burden to Him.
You don’t have to hide your triggers, your insecurities, or the parts of you that feel stuck in moments you never chose.
He doesn't just want to heal your behavior. He wants to heal the why behind it.
He comes gently, without shame.
He doesn’t demand you hurry through your healing.
He simply sits with you in the place you stop growing.
He whispers,
“I’m not afraid of your wounds. I’m not disappointed in your process.
I know what happened, and I still call you mine.”
Healing is not pretending the child never cried.
Healing is letting Jesus hold the part of you that still does.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Thank You for seeing beyond the mask I wear.
Thank You for loving the younger me, the one who still aches, the one who never felt safe, the one who never felt seen.
Hold me in the places I’ve hidden. Heal what I didn’t have words for.
Teach me how to be gentle with myself as You are gentle with me.
I receive Your love where it hurts the most.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
Story Time
The Room Samuel Locked
Samuel was the kind of guy everyone noticed. Confident, loud, quick with a joke, and quicker with a comeback. He had charm that filled a room, but sarcasm that kept people at a distance.
He liked it that way. It made him feel untouchable.
But when the lights went out and the door closed, all the noise disappeared. And so did he.
That’s when the ache started. Not sharp, just a dull heaviness deep inside. It came most nights, when the laughter faded and no one was watching.
Tonight, it felt heavier. He tossed his phone aside and sat on the edge of his bed. His thoughts drifted back to a house. A hallway. The door at the end of it. The one from his childhood. He always walked past it, even in dreams. But not tonight.
He closed his eyes. There he was again. Barefoot in the cold hallway. The door ahead. But this time he wasn’t alone.
Jesus.
Samuel tried to act casual, even in the dream. “What are You doing here?”
Jesus looked at him with kindness that cut through the armor. “I’ve been waiting.”
Samuel scoffed. “For what? I’m fine. Always have been.”
Jesus said nothing. Just placed His hand on the doorknob. Waiting.
Samuel’s breath caught. He knew what was behind that door, the part of himself he buried under jokes and pride.
His feet moved. His hand reached. The door creaked open.
There he was. A little boy, curled on the floor, eyes wide with fear. Seven years old. Bruised, not by fists, but by words, silence, and abandonment.
All the cockiness drained from Samuel. He knelt down.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. “I didn’t forget you. I just didn’t know how to help you.”
Jesus knelt too. “You don’t have to fix him. Just love him. I’ll do the healing.”
Samuel looked at the boy, at himself. “You don’t have to be strong anymore. I’ve got you now.”
The little boy blinked back tears. “You came back.”
Samuel nodded. “And I’m not leaving.”
Jesus wrapped them both in His embrace. Shadows lifted. Fear faded. Light filled the room. For the first time, Samuel didn’t have to perform, protect, or pretend. He just had to be.
Sometimes the loudest people are the loneliest. The jokers hurt the deepest. The strongest looking carry the weakest inside.
But Jesus sees through the mask. He waits at the door. And when we let Him in, He doesn’t just heal the past. He restores who we were always meant to be.
