“Some people are in church every single Sunday but have absolutely no love in their heart for others.” A confronting statement, but one we must not ignore.
Devotion
We live in a time where church attendance can be mistaken for spiritual health. We dress the part, raise our hands, quote Scripture… but Jesus didn’t say the world would know us by our worship songs or Bible knowledge.
He said:
“By this shall all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].” John 13:35
Love is the evidence. Not just love for those who are easy to love, only love for the broken, the annoying, the ones who offend us, the outcast, the sinner, the one who wounded us deeply. God is not impressed with religion void of compassion.
These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me. Matthew 15:8
What good is a full calendar of church services if our hearts are empty of mercy? What good is knowing the Word if we don’t reflect the heart of the One who spoke it? Let this devotion stir something real in you.
Ask the Lord:
“Search me, God. Is there someone I’ve refused to love? Have I become a Pharisee in disguise; clean on the outside but far from Your love on the inside?”
The true mark of spiritual maturity isn’t how long you’ve been in church. It’s how well you love when no one’s watching.
Scripture to Reflect On
• 1 Corinthians 13:2 “If I have not love, I am nothing.”
• Micah 6:8 “What does the Lord require of you? To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
• 1 John 4:20 “If we say we love God but hate our brother, we are liars.”
May your heart burn not just with truth; but with love that looks like Jesus.
