Scripture
“For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking Him as Lord] will be saved.” Romans 10:13
Devotion
Imagine this: A child is lost in the woods. The path is dark, the way home is gone, and fear sets in. That’s what sin is like, it leaves us lost and unable to find our way back to God. The Bible says all of us have sinned and fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23). No matter how hard we try, we can’t climb out of the darkness alone.
But then, light breaks through the trees. A rescuer comes, calling your name. That rescue is Jesus. God loved us so much that He sent His Son into our darkness. Even while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us (Romans 5:8). To the cross, He carried the weight of our sins, and three days later, He rose from the grave; proving He has power over sin and death.
Now, there is only one way home, and it’s through the Name of Jesus. Acts 4:12 says there is no other name by which we must be saved. Not good works, not church attendance, not trying to be better, only Jesus.
Salvation is as simple as this: Believe in your heart that Jesus is alive, confess with your mouth that He is Lord, and call upon His Name. Romans 10:9–10 promises that when you do this, you are saved; rescued from sin, given eternal life, and welcomed into God’s family.
The story doesn’t end there. The lost child is now safe in the Rescuer’s arms, walking the path of new life. In the same way, when we trust Jesus, we become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). The past no longer defines us. We belong to Him, and He walks with us every step of the way.
Prayer
Jesus, I was lost, but You came for me. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I call on Your Name, the only Name that saves. Thank You for rescuing me and giving me new life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
