Seeing Is Believing

John‬ ‭20‬:‭29

Devotion:

Thomas often gets a bad rap for doubting, but he was actually being honest. He wanted proof that Jesus had really risen. When Jesus showed up to him, showing his scars, Thomas believed. Jesus gently replied with a powerful truth: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

We often want to see before we believe. We want the breakthrough before we trust, the answered prayer before we commit, and the sign before we obey. Faith isn’t about waiting for proof; it’s about trusting God’s character, even when we can’t see it.

God isn’t bothered by our questions. He meets us in our doubt just like He met Thomas. He also invites us into a deeper faith, one that believes first and then sees, because we trust who He is.

Believing without seeing isn’t blind faith, it’s anchored faith. Anchored in God’s Word, his promises, and his past faithfulness. The world says, “Seeing is believing.” The Kingdom says, “Believing is seeing.”

Prayer:

Jesus, I believe, help my unbelief. Teach me to trust You even when I can’t see the outcome. Strengthen my faith and help me walk by faith, not by sight. I choose to believe in Your goodness, even in the waiting. In Jesus’ name, amen.
