Trust Beyond Understanding

Proverbs 3:5-6

Devotion:

Our understanding is limited. It’s shaped by past experiences, fears, expectations, and even pride. Sometimes, we try to make sense of life based only on what we see or feel. God calls us to trust in what He sees, not just what we understand.

Leaning on our own understanding is like walking through a maze with a blindfold, thinking we know the way. Trusting God, on the other hand, is like letting someone who sees the whole map guide us, even when the path doesn’t make sense.

Why Is It Hard Not to Lean on Our Understanding?

We like control.
We fear being wrong.
We want quick answers.
We equate “not understanding” with “being unsafe.”

Faith often grows in mystery. True devotion means choosing trust over clarity, obedience over certainty.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to release my grip on what I think I know. Teach me to trust You even when the path is unclear. Let my heart lean into Your wisdom, not my own. I surrender my reasoning and receive Your peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
