You Felt Right, But Ridiculed as Well

Scripture

“Blessed and happy are those who are treated badly for doing what is right, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.” Matthew 5:10

Devotion

There are times when your spirit is at peace, your heart is steady, and you know, without a shadow of a doubt that you are walking in the will of God. You’ve obeyed His Word, you’ve followed His leading, and yet… instead of applause, you’re met with ridicule. Laughter. Side-eyes. Whispered criticisms.

You felt right but ridiculed as well.

Don’t let the rejection surprise you. Jesus Himself faced this same storm. Though He walked in perfect truth, He was still mocked. Misunderstood. Even hated. When He healed the broken on the Sabbath, they called Him a lawbreaker. When He sat with the rejected, they accused Him of compromising. When He spoke the truth, they nailed Him to a cross.

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief…” Isaiah 53:3

Righteousness doesn’t always wear a crown; it often wears a cross. If you’ve ever been criticized for obeying God, for showing mercy when vengeance was expected, for speaking life when others gossiped, know this: you are not alone. That deep peace in your spirit is the voice of the Holy Ghost confirming, “You’re doing well. Keep going.”

The world may laugh, and Heaven is watching. The applause of men fades quickly. The approval of God echoes in eternity. So, stand. Stand when it’s unpopular. Stand when it’s lonely. Stand when your tears fall quietly behind your smile. God sees. God knows. And what He has called right. He will never ridicule. He will be rewarded.

Prayer

Lord, help me to find my strength in Your approval, not the world’s applause. Remind me that even in rejection, I am never alone. You walked this road before me. Give me boldness to keep walking in truth, no matter who misunderstands it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
