Faith & Trust

The Road I Know

Isaiah 30:21 • Proverbs 22:6

← Return to Faith & Trust

There is something deeply powerful about remembering where the journey with God first began. For many people, faith does not begin beneath bright lights or public recognition. Faith often begins quietly, in ordinary moments where trust becomes the only thing left to hold onto.

I remember feeling the presence of God most strongly when I was young, vulnerable, uncertain, and filled with raw faith. Without a car, without stability, and sometimes without clarity, I walked miles to church through rain, snow, and blazing summer heat. I did not understand everything spiritually yet. I simply knew I wanted to be where Jesus was.

During those early years, obedience felt natural. My heart had not yet become weighed down by skepticism, confusion, or fear. My friend Dallas and I visited church members together, prayed with families, and interceded for needs brought before the congregation. Recognition never mattered to us. We simply wanted to walk closely with God.

And every single time, He met us there.

Later, after praying for discernment, deeper spiritual awareness slowly began unfolding around me. I started recognizing spiritual tension, subtle warnings from the Holy Spirit, and the difference between truth and deception more clearly than before.

Discernment revealed itself not merely as a gift, but as a responsibility.

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

Isaiah 30:21 became deeply personal to me long before I fully understood why. Even during seasons of uncertainty, confusion, loneliness, or silence, the whisper of God remained steady enough to guide the next step forward.

There were moments when I did not know which direction to take, yet deep within my spirit, the voice of God continued pointing toward His path.

Proverbs 22:6 carried weight through those years as well. Truth planted deeply during childhood continued taking root over time. Some teachings I received growing up reflected Scripture faithfully. Others required deeper searching and honest study before understanding became clear.

For years, I repeated beliefs simply because they sounded familiar or widely accepted. Eventually, hunger for truth pushed me into Scripture personally. What I discovered there transformed everything. The Word anchored me, corrected me, strengthened me, and became the voice I knew I could trust completely.

Pursuing Jesus sincerely can sometimes feel lonely, especially when others do not understand the depth of spiritual hunger growing inside the heart. Yet God faithfully sustains those who seek Him honestly.

Misunderstanding does not mean failure. Silence does not mean abandonment. Refining seasons do not mean God has stopped leading.

God is not searching for flawless performance. God desires willing obedience.

So continue walking the road you know. Continue following the voice that still whispers quietly, “This is the way,” even when the path feels unfamiliar, lonely, or costly.

Jesus still meets people there.
