“But refuse and avoid irreverent legends (profane and impure and godless fictions, mere grandmother's tales) and silly myths, and express your disapproval of them. Train yourself toward godliness (piety), [keeping yourself spiritually fit]. For physical training is of some value (useful for a little), but godliness (spiritual training) is useful and of value in everything and in every way, for it holds promise for the present life and also for the life which is to come.”

Every worthwhile pursuit requires preparation. Athletes spend countless hours training before a competition. Musicians practice until the notes become second nature. Professionals learn their craft before stepping into their careers. We understand that excellence never happens by accident.
Our walk with Christ is no different. God is not simply preparing us for tomorrow. He is preparing us for eternity.
Training Every Day
Spiritual growth is built through ordinary acts of faithfulness. Every prayer strengthens our dependence upon God. Every act of forgiveness shapes our hearts to become more like Christ. Every step of obedience develops spiritual maturity that will last forever.
God uses daily disciplines to prepare His children for His eternal kingdom. These moments may seem ordinary today, but they are forming Christ within us one decision at a time.
Learning the Ways of Heaven
Heaven is not merely our destination. It is the kingdom to which we already belong. As we learn to love what God loves, reject what grieves Him, and walk according to His Word, our hearts become increasingly at home in His presence.
The more we walk with Jesus today, the less unfamiliar eternity becomes. We begin living now according to the values of the kingdom we will one day experience in its fullness.
Every act of obedience today is preparing your heart for eternity tomorrow.
A Life That Reflects Forever
Training for heaven is not about earning salvation. Salvation is God's gracious gift through Jesus Christ. Spiritual training is our response to that gift. Because we belong to Him, we willingly allow Him to shape our character, renew our minds, and prepare us for the life that never ends.
One day our faith will become sight. Until then, every conversation, every prayer, every sacrifice, and every act of love becomes another step toward the home Christ has prepared for us.
Prayer
Lord, continue shaping my heart for Your kingdom. Help me embrace every opportunity to grow in faith, obedience, and love. Teach me to value spiritual training more than temporary success, knowing that You are preparing me for eternity with You. Let my words, my choices, and my daily walk reflect the life You have called me to live. May I never lose sight of heaven as I faithfully follow You each day. In Jesus' name, amen.
