Joseph Bennett has spent much of his life concerned about other people and deeply aware of how his decisions might affect them. He offers grace and understanding to those around him while struggling to extend the same patience and consideration to himself.

Through loss, divorce, difficult relationships, guilt, trauma, and unexpected changes, Joseph begins to question how much of his life has been shaped by circumstances he could not control.

There are many things we cannot choose, but there are still choices that remain ours.

Beneath Everything is a story about discovering what remains when life does not unfold as expected and learning that a difficult past does not have to become the only explanation for a person's future.

Joseph Bennett is not a hero who has everything figured out. He is a man learning how to live while carrying experiences that have changed him.

He cares deeply about other people, sometimes to the point of carrying concerns that were never his responsibility. He worries about consequences that may never happen and often finds it easier to offer grace to others than to give that same grace to himself.

Joseph's journey is not about becoming a person untouched by his past. It is about learning that his past can influence him without possessing the authority to determine everything that comes next.
