Before we can understand submission, obedience, or the responsibility of spiritual leadership, we must first understand the authority of God. Every biblical principle concerning authority begins with Him, because no position, title, or human relationship exists independently of His sovereignty.
In this first part, we will examine what it means to recognize God as the highest authority in our lives and why genuine submission must begin within the heart. We will consider the difference between knowing what God requires and willingly surrendering our desires to His Word. We will also explore how our understanding of His authority shapes our decisions, our responses to correction, and our relationships with those entrusted with responsibility.
The foundation established here will guide every chapter that follows. Before we examine how believers respond to human leadership, we must be willing to examine our own relationship with the One who holds all authority.
