CHAPTER THREE

The Vision of the Crowded Room

Several weeks passed and Brad felt himself being pulled deeper into trust. Challenges still appeared, yet a pattern slowly emerged around him. Closed doors began to shift. Conversations that once led nowhere suddenly reopened. Familiar names unexpectedly reached out after long periods of silence.

Late one evening Gabriel had gone to sleep and Brad sat quietly in the living room beneath dim light. A familiar prompting rose within him. Pray.

Brad lowered his head. As he prayed something changed. Another vision opened before him.

Suddenly he stood inside a crowded room. People surrounded him on every side. Faces carried discouragement. Eyes reflected weariness. Voices whispered fear. People wandered in circles without direction. Everyone appeared burdened.

A voice spoke beside him though no figure stood there.

“These are the people you will help.”

“Your faith will not only carry you forward. Your faith will lift others. You are not walking only toward your future. You are walking toward your calling.”

The words carried both comfort and weight. Brad wanted to help people. Helping others had always lived somewhere deep inside him. Questions immediately surfaced. Am I strong enough? Am I qualified enough?

The voice spoke again. “You do not need to see yourself as strong. You only need to see Me as Jesus. Weakness is not a barrier. Weakness becomes the place where My strength enters.”

Tears streamed down Brad's face. When his eyes opened again, the living room slowly returned into view. Silence surrounded him. The presence remained.

This time no questions followed. Deep within his heart he knew Jesus was shaping something greater than he could yet understand.
