1 John 4:20
Benjamin was old enough to know his words mattered. He had lived long enough to see the fruit of them.
At his retirement celebration, people stood one by one, sharing stories.
“You spoke hope when I had none.” “You corrected me without humiliating me.” “You never spoke badly about anyone.”
Benjamin listened quietly.
He remembered the times he had wanted to. The restraint. The prayers whispered instead of accusations released.
Later that night, alone, he opened his Bible.
1 John 4:20 rested heavy on his heart.
He thought of others too. Men whose words had burned bridges. Women whose voices carried bitterness for decades.
Words built legacies.
That night, Benjamin dreamed.
He stood before God, not afraid. Words floated around him, glowing. Each one connected to a life touched.
He woke grateful.
His life testified to one truth.
The tongue cannot be tamed, but it can be surrendered.
One mouth. One witness.
