What Is the Gospel?
The gospel is not merely good advice or a collection of religious teachings. It is the good news of what God has accomplished through Jesus Christ. Before reading the explanation below, take time to carefully read 1 Corinthians 15:1 through 4 in your Bible.
Christ Died for Our Sins
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.1 Corinthians 15:3
The first part of the gospel is the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. He willingly gave His life for sinners, fulfilling God's plan of redemption that had been promised throughout the Scriptures. His sacrifice was sufficient because He alone was without sin.
Christ Was Buried
And that he was buried.1 Corinthians 15:4
The burial of Jesus confirms the reality of His death. His sacrifice was not symbolic or imagined. He truly died, was placed in a tomb, and fulfilled the Scriptures concerning the promised Messiah.
Christ Rose Again
And that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.1 Corinthians 15:4
The resurrection is the triumphant declaration that Jesus Christ conquered sin, death, and the grave. Because He lives, there is hope for every person who comes to Him. The resurrection is not merely an event to remember. It is the foundation of the Christian faith and the assurance of eternal life.
The Gospel Changes Lives
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.Romans 1:16
The gospel is more than historical truth. It is God's power to save. It calls people to respond in faith, to repent, and to place their trust in Jesus Christ. Wherever the gospel is believed and obeyed, lives are transformed by the grace of God.
Understand the Truth
The Gospel Is God's Good News
From the beginning of this journey, we have discovered who Jesus Christ is and why every person needs a Savior. The gospel reveals God's answer to humanity's greatest problem. Through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God has made a way for forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life.
The gospel is not centered on what we can do for God. It begins with what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Every person is invited to respond to this good news with humility, faith, and obedience to His Word.
