The Fragrance Banner
CHAPTER FOUR

The Voice of Joshua

The room remained heavy with the fragrance, its sweetness lingering in the air and settling over everyone gathered around the table.

Although the murmurs had quieted after the first wave of criticism, tension still rested beneath the silence.

From their perspective, nothing about the moment made sense.

Their minds remained fixed on practical concerns and visible needs.

Numbers continued running through their thoughts.

Fifty thousand dollars could have changed lives.

Families could have received help.

Resources could have gone toward people suffering beyond these walls.

Yet while frustration moved through the room, Joshua remained still.

He sat in silence for a moment, undisturbed by the tension surrounding Him.

Then He finally spoke.

"Leave her alone."

"Why trouble her? She has done something beautiful for Me."

The room fell still.

"You will always have opportunities to help the poor, and you should. But you will not always have Me."

Love had led her there.

Something larger than understanding had guided her steps.

"She has prepared Me for what is coming."

What was coming? Why did His words suddenly carry such heaviness?

"Wherever this message is shared throughout the world, what she has done will be remembered."

A promise had just been spoken. Something eternal had entered the room.

Tears slowly slipped down Elena’s cheeks.

Joshua had received her offering.

Joshua had understood her heart.

That alone was enough.

The fragrance still lingered in the air, rising quietly like incense before heaven itself and standing as a silent witness to a moment time would never erase.
