The Fragrance Banner
CHAPTER FIVE

The Eternal Memorial

The fragrance still lingered long after the murmurs had faded into silence, its sweetness remaining suspended in the air as though the room itself had absorbed the moment and refused to let go.

Something about the fragrance felt different now.

Earlier it had entered the room as perfume poured from a broken bottle.

Now it seemed to remain as a witness.

"I tell you the truth. Wherever this message is shared throughout the world, what she has done will be remembered."

The promise felt almost too large to comprehend.

Elena had not come searching for recognition or hoping for honor.

Love alone had brought her there.

She simply came to place everything she treasured before the One who had become greater than every dream she once carried.

Yet within a moment that seemed so ordinary, eternity had quietly stepped into the room.

Others saw extravagance.

Others saw waste.

Joshua saw beauty.

He honored love expressed without restraint.

Around the room the disciples remained quiet.

Questions still moved through their thoughts.

None of them yet understood that the fragrance surrounding them carried meaning beyond perfume.

The cross moved closer with every passing day.

Elena did not understand everything either.

She had poured out her treasure and somewhere within that surrender, she had poured out herself as well.

The fragrance no longer seemed confined to the room around her because something had settled inside her spirit too, rising quietly like incense before the throne of God while heaven itself held the memory of a moment earth would never forget.
