LESSON REVIEWS

Remember what you learned.

Use these short reviews to revisit important skills from class. You can review them before practicing, after practicing, or whenever you need a reminder.

Learning is stronger when we return to it.

Read each review slowly. Try to remember the steps before looking at the answers. Then practice the skill on your own computer.

There is no grade and no time limit. A review is simply another opportunity to make the skill more familiar.

Six foundational lessons

01

Getting Started

What we learned

A computer has different parts that work together. The power button starts the computer, and the desktop is the main workspace you see after it starts.

Remember these steps

  1. Turn on the computer.
  2. Wait for it to finish starting.
  3. Look at the desktop.
  4. Open a program when you need one.
  5. Shut down safely when finished.
Can you remember?

What is the desktop used for?

02

Mouse & Keyboard

What we learned

The mouse lets you point and interact with items on the screen. The keyboard lets you enter letters, numbers, spaces, and commands.

Remember these steps

  1. Move the pointer where you want it.
  2. Click once to select.
  3. Double click when needed to open.
  4. Scroll to move through a page.
  5. Use the keyboard to type.
Can you remember?

What is the difference between a single click and a double click?

03

Files & Folders

What we learned

A file is something stored on your computer. A folder helps organize files so they are easier to find.

Remember these steps

  1. Create a folder.
  2. Give the folder a clear name.
  3. Save your document.
  4. Remember where you saved it.
  5. Find and open it again.
Can you remember?

Why would you put files inside a folder?

04

Internet Basics

What we learned

A browser helps you visit websites. A search engine helps you find information. Links take you from one place on the internet to another.

Remember these steps

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Use the address bar or search.
  3. Read the search results.
  4. Open a useful result.
  5. Use tabs and back when needed.
Can you remember?

What does a web browser help you do?

05

Email & Communication

What we learned

Email allows people to send and receive written messages and files. The inbox contains messages that have been received.

Remember these steps

  1. Open your email.
  2. Find the inbox.
  3. Open or compose a message.
  4. Check the recipient before sending.
  5. Reply when appropriate.
Can you remember?

Where do you normally find messages that others have sent you?

06

Online Safety

What we learned

Being comfortable with technology also means knowing when to slow down. Not every message, link, or request should be trusted.

Remember these steps

  1. Look carefully at the sender.
  2. Be cautious with urgent requests.
  3. Do not share passwords.
  4. Do not click suspicious links.
  5. Ask for help when unsure.
Can you remember?

What should you do when a message makes you feel rushed or unsure?

Review. Remember. Practice.

When a skill feels unfamiliar, return to the review first. Then try the skill on your computer. Repetition is how unfamiliar actions become familiar ones.

1. ReadRead the lesson review.
2. RememberTry to recall the important steps.
3. PracticeDo the skill on your own computer.
4. AskBring questions back to class.

You are allowed to review as many times as you need.

There is no shame in going back. Every review gives your brain another opportunity to recognize the skill and make it easier to use.
